When running in a multi-monitor setup on Windows 8, the taskbar dances about between the screens as you click between them.

To fix this: In controller.cs, each new MainWindow that is created needs to have ResizeMode = ResizeMode.NoResize.
Comments: This should theoretically be Fixed now in the BabySmashK branch, but I don't currently have the ability to test it.

Hi

I was running BS on windows server 2003. ran it for about 2 minutes then did an exit using ALT+F4 on returning to windows i found that few keys are not working. List of keys not working is as follow

DOT BACKSPACE PLUS MINUS LESSTHAN GREATERTHAN ALT WINDOWKEY UNDERSCORE

there may be other keys but these are the one i found till now

by the way this is a great application exactly what i have been looking for my two years old daughter till now i have been using notepad and hoping that she will not do something dangerous

This happened to me too, but it was after the app wasn't fully taking all the inputs so I think it may have been some Windows/accessibility thing. I found that I couldn't use shift to get question marks and such either (in addition to noticing some of the keys above not working right), and I ended up rebooting. (Vista)

when I had a bunch of keys not working, I went to task manager and found that baby smash was not closed all the way, I did an end task and the keys started working again.

On my windows 7 ultimate machine my two year old son is able to get the Windows Peek functionality to happen. I am not sure what combination of keys he hits but it has happened on multiple occasions. This has happened in both transparent and non transparent modes.

Is this intentional? I wanted to put together a portable stand alone exe, but now that my baby is getting older I think should would benefit from the speaking of the letters instead of just the laughs.

For me also some keys are not working after running the babysmash i am using vista sp1 But i like this application very much (No dots between sentence because its not working D )

The temporary certificate that Visual Studio generates for ClickOnce applications expires one year from the date you create it. It is considered a "development" certificate by Microsoft. Changing the cert a year from now forces users to uninstall and reinstall. You want to create your own cert with a reasonable expiration and sign the assembly with it.

So many ClickOnce apps just stop working a year after they were created.

The application on http://www.may.be/renewcert/ doesn't work properly for me (and for some other people, why I don't know). You can use the tools that come with the SDK to create a cert that doesn't need renewal for 30 years, this should work:

Hey guys,
Ok, I see that there is interest in video support. I would really like to see it myself.
I have some background with directshow...

Has anyone already started work on this? (i like the voting on the uservoice site, but I think maybe we should work from the issue tracker when they accepted?...posting a link to the issue tracker for the planned feature when it is being implemented?)

I can add the feature to allow the user to press a key and start recording, then another to stop. Saving the file in a directory....not sure how this will be structured....seems like the smashpacks will define how it should be stored?

The question is how to integrate that video content within the banging session to make it fun and exciting once you record a few videos.

One thing I have noticed is my son will bang and bang away on the keyboard then sit back for up to two minuets while the shapes are all appearing. Maybee you could have the keyboard handler queue up events to a worker thread, and then when the queue gets so filled it just starts dropping events. I've also noticed the sound for the mouse events don't play during this moderate - heavy smashing.

The stuff that happened above had nothing to do with BS!, it wasn't even running at the time. Let me write a better use case for it.

1. Programmer launches BabySmash, tells it to wait in the background.
2. Programmer pretends to work, typing aimlessly into the IDE, checking blogs, and plotting against his superiors.
3. Programmer gets up and does something completely unrelated to the work at hand.
4. BabySmash notices the absence of the computer and pops up at topmost.
5. Programmer returns to computer, tells BS! to sleep again.

In essence, I'm looking for BS! to be my screensaver.

Certain keys are not blocked by the application while running.

It seems to be 3 keys on the keyboard I use, I thought it was windows key shortcuts initially but after regression testing found that it was in fact 3 other keys. I've attached a picture of the keyboard showing which 3 keys.

These keys launch the default Email client, the default webbrowser and windows calculator.

The keyboard in question is Microsoft Wireless Laser 6000 v2
Comments: I've added a timer that will put the window in the foreground. I can't prevent these keys, but I can hide the apps they launch.

I went to the bathroom last night and upon my return my two-year old had managed to do severe damage. So my suggestion is that after a configurable amount of minutes, BS! becomes the foreground app, with an attendant option to send it to the background upon return.

Can you give me more details on this? Do I need to spend $500 on a 3 year cert? What do I need to do now that hundreds of people have this application installed already?

Turns out those buttons aren't really buttons, but actually communication with the custom keyboard driver. I'm looking into it.

There's a hardcoded size of 400 * 400 in CoolLetter.xaml. As the letters drawn are smaller than this, it means they effectively have a margin around them. If you type loads of letters this manifests itself as an area of the screen along the bottom & along the right that never gets filled.
